Months elapsed before Bally Sports disappeared from Comcast Xfinity’s TV lineup. Today, Comcast announced a deal. It will add Bally Sports RSNs, owned by Diamond Sports Group, back to Xfinity customers on August 1, 2024.
The catch is, you must be an Xfinity Ultimate TV customer to get this package. So, it’s now more expensive than before. Some Xfinity customers may need to upgrade to a higher package to watch Bally Sports.
David Preschlack, CEO of Diamond Sports, said, “Our restructuring hinges on a new deal with Comcast, our third-largest distributor.”
“We’re pleased that fans can once again watch their local teams on Xfinity.”
We are pleased that fans can once again watch their local teams on Xfinity.
“Now, with certainty on our distribution, we seek to finalize an agreement with the NHL. We also want to resolve our talks with the NBA. We know time is short, with basketball and hockey seasons fast approaching. “Once we finalize deals with our team and league partners, we will quickly present a reorganization plan to the court.””
“Thanks to Diamond Sports for working with us. We found a solution to return the Bally Sports RSNs to our Ultimate TV customers. ‘It shows the changing video market for local sports,’ said Greg Rigdon, Comcast’s President of Content Acquisition. ‘We look forward to making these networks available on August 1. Customers can then enjoy watching their favorite teams again.'”
This comes as Bally Sports has to find a way out of bankruptcy. This move with Comcast was needed to make a go-forward plan to exit bankruptcy possible. The question is, will being on the Unlimited TV package be enough to save it?
